This is the final view of the roof. It extends around from the back over the water heater closet and back door.
This is the bedroom looking towards the front of the house. The floor that is uncovered is part of the new square footage added to the house. It is the area above the old front door entry, piano area , and Dad's old office.
The stairway will remain in the same place. The new bathroom wall will start just beyond the window so we have access to ventilation.
This is looking towards the back of the house. You can see the stuff in the attic. This is where the closet will go. The floor of the bathroom to the left is open to reposition the plumbing.

This is the new roof and porch as seen from across Nebraska. It really changes the look of the house don't you think?
This is the view from Amber. You will notice that the porch roof extends past the existing deck. The deck will be extended all the way back to the edge of the driveway. If you look carefully just above the truck you can see the little extension of the roof over the back door that will now permit the installation of a screen security door to take advantage of the breeze in the evening.
This is the view from the back of the house. We extended the roof to cover the open storage area in the back. Dad also added a small gable in the back to vent the attic.
This is the deck view. You can also see the porch coming back around to meet the roof over the deck. What do you think of the color of the new roof? Our intention is to paint the house a tan color, add black shutters to the upstairs windows and paint the trim white. We still have not decided on shutters on the windows downstairs. Some windows don't have enough room for shutters on both sides (the girls' room) so we won't be able to do all the windows, but perhaps the front windows if we we put in a smaller window.

While Dad is demolishing the inside, Miguel is going after the roof. He was one of my high school students. I think he played soccer with Spencer. He and his wife joined the church about six years ago. Dad has been using him lately on some jobs. The kid in the red shirt is from the ward. He has turned out to be a good helper. Miguel has been working on the roof over our bathroom. Now you see it...
Now you don't! I missed the shot of it sliding into the bin.
The framing crew showed up Wednesday morning and the roof still wasn't completely gone so they started on the roof over the deck.
The roof demolishing is taking a whole lot longer than Dad anticipated

Dad is a "blur" of motion tearing into the walls of our bedroom.
Bathroom view
The driveway is covered in lumber. Note the rollaway garbage bin. The driver that delivered the bin had to do some tight maneuvering to get it in between the brick columns without knocking them down-ditto the driver who picked it up.

The fun begins!
Well, you can see that the entry is gone and so is the left window. These pictures were taken several weeks ago. Dad installed the new door and sidelights, but because they need to be painted to protect them from the elements right now they are covered in black plastic and unusable. We exit and enter through the window if we want to go out the front of the house. Dad keeps threatening to take a picture of me going in or out of the window, but it hasn't happened yet.
